Botox is administered via injection and works by temporarily paralyzing the underlying muscles under the skin that are causing the lines and creases. Botox is one of the most sought after non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments performed today for both men and women and has become increasingly popular for being a fast, effective, virtually painless way to reduce unwanted lines and creases with no downtime.

While there is no preparation involved, it can be advantageous to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medication and supplements several days prior to your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.

There is, however, aftercare protocol that should be followed following your treatment. After Botox is administered, you should not bend forward (no downward dogs!) or lie down for two to four hours. You should avoid touching or manipulating the treated area for at least four hours. Further, facial exercises (frowning, squinting and smiling) are recommended three hours following your treatment to help maximize results.
