If you are interested in getting BBL Photorejuvenation in Birmingham or the Metro Detroit area, the first step will be to contact Skin Boutique and schedule your consultation with one of our Skin Care Specialists. During this appointment, you will be able to address your aesthetic desires, ask questions regarding the treatment, and get an examination of your skin. If you agree with the evaluation, then you be able to schedule your appointment with our Patient Coordinator who will also provide you with the cost of your treatment and give you any instructions you may need to follow before your first session.
During your BBL Photorejuvenation, the Skin Care Specialist will use the handheld device to deliver light energy to your skin via a series of short, high-intensity. This light energy will penetrate the tissue and selectively target chromophores (skin components that absorb light). The irregular pigmentation (also called melanin) and the red pigment of blood vessels will absorb this light energy, heating and effectively destroying the discolored pigment without harming the skin or other tissues. This will increase the amount of collagen your body produces, thereby improving your skin’s coloration, health, and appearance.
You will have a mild sunburn sensation following treatment that is usually gone within a few hours.
Your Skin will be red that we will cover with an SPF or you can apply your own makeup immediately after to cover the sunkissed look. You may have some slight swelling that is normal for a few hours to a few days.
Pigmented areas may begin to flake after a few days.
Cold compresses (not ice) and recommended skin care products may be useful to reduce swelling or discomfort. You may takeover-the-counter pain or anti-inflammatory medication.
Your skin will be fragile for 2-3 days. Use gentle cleansers, but do not rub the skin vigorously and avoid hot water during this time. Skin moisturizers may be used immediately and makeup can be applied
You must avoid sun exposure without sunscreen and tanning creams between treatments. Use SPF 30 or greater on the treatment area at all times.
Avoid irritants, such Retin-A, Retinol, Renova, glycolics, bleaching creams,and exfoliants for one week.
